This workshop provides an opportunity for a broad group of important stakeholders to both learn about the project plans and to share their views on expectations from and opportunities for synergies with the project (days 1 and 2) and for the core project team to finalize the project details (days 3 and 4).
- Conceptual frameworks for SI: Benchmark area approach, INRM.
- Some examples: 40 cases of projects in 20 countries in Africa.
- Some lessons:

First of four objectives emphasisses sustainable intensification of rainfed smallholder farming systems. 3 themes: systems analysis, integrated ... ?? 11 work areas, including Southern moist savannas as major farming systems Impacts related to needs: SRT 1 leads to situation analysis
