ESA Review and Planning Meeting

11-15 September 2017

Zanzibar, Tanzania


Objectives

  • Documentation of scalable research outputs for disemination
  • Put together an advanced draft of the Africa RISING ESA technology handbook
  • Review of main scientific achievements of the project
  • Share report from PCT/SAG meetings held in June and determine follow-up actions
  • Identify loose ends and how to tie them up
  • Share progress on scaling partnerships with development partners

  • Introductory presentation on planning for loose ends - I. Hoeschle-Zeledon (10 mins presentation + 10 mins clarification)
  • Group work (20 mins)

Participants break-out into site groups to: * Reflect on presentation by I. Hoeschle-Zeledon and determine which loose ends: (a) need to be absolutely addressed and can be finalized within the next 6 months and don't need any funding, (b) It would be great to address should circumstances change and more funds are available

  • Presentation by each team on their existing lose ends (TBD by site Kongwa Kiteto, Babati, Malawi) - (10 mins + 10 mins clarification) x 3

Day 3 (13 Sept.) 8:20 Overview of agenda for the day 8:30 Planning for the next 6 months - tying loose ends and engagement with development partners for scaling // Project Steering Committee Meeting (in parallel)

  • Participants break into groups (by site) to plan, those not involved (e.g. Zambia) can start writing their sections for the handbook
