Apostille Details

You often need apostilles to authenticate documents if you are going to work abroad. Basically they may give an apostille for any work related document that is an original. Photocopies cannot be given an apostille. You might need to attach an apostille to documents for example Apprenticeship or Indenture certificates, to prove that you've got qualified within your chosen profession, for example. Apostilles can also be issued for Criminal Records Checks, and some other document you could have to produce to be able to satisfy a country's legal requirements for foreign nationals doing work in that country. You should check with embassies to find out just what documentation is necessary, and check with the British government also. All this could be done online, as can filling in an order for an apostille.

Apostilles can even authenticate your educational degrees and diplomas, as long as they were obtained from a fully accredited University, college or distance learning establishment. If, however you paid for a diploma or other educational award online, then these cannot be given an apostille.

You often need evidence of educational achievements and these have to be compared with the educational standards within the country you are going to work in. By way of example, a British 4-year college degree could possibly be the equivalent of an M.Phil in, say, Pakistan. Similarly, if you got a qualification abroad and wanted to go to a British university the qualification might have to be verified and subject to investigation, to view what equivalent it has within the British education system.

Often employers will ask for equivalence of academic background, and an apostille will prove that your particular degree, highschool diploma service (read page), or other educational qualifications are real.

If you want a degree or any other certificate to be authenticated through an apostille, you should submit the original document in addition to any letter from the university (within the cases of post graduate qualifications) stating the nature of your dissertation and/or thesis. If you have lost this letter the registrar at the educational institution from which it was obtained will supply you with another letter to ensure that you've got proof positive of having obtained the larger degree. This may expedite the issuing of the apostille when this happens.
