(10') General introduction to communication in Africa RISING * Process: Presentation, emphasizing the templates for PPT and for reports + mentioning the regional comms strategy for 2015 (+ plan) + mention the presentation that will be on the wiki + JO will communicate with all of you about this later but you can give your comments to Jonathan any time (+ on wiki) (ELB to step in if need be)... (20-30') Finding area/country-specific solutions for communication [ELB] * 5' introduce the issue ; Except for reporting (and even then?) there is not enough communication, cooperation, collaboration that is visible across the region. We need to collect data, information, stories, results, pictures, presentations, updates about events and processes etc. Jonathan needs to have a counterpart in each sub-national team to get that content and to find out what is happening. This is non-negotiable at project and program level. * 15' Process: In regional (or thematic) groups, agree on who needs to be the focal point for comms and what specific challenges that person should help with + possible other needs for support from JO and from the central program comms team on this. + conclude that we support (in priority) the teams that have organized themselves around comms. * 5' Feedback from the teams highlight key person and key challenges to take up. (80-90') Hands-on training (Yammer, wiki)... * Process: Standard training by Tsehay, and based on the assumption that all participants will have created their profile on Yammer and Wiki by then.

  • 08.00: Steering committee meeting starting in parallel
  • 10.00: Coffee / tea break
  • 10.30: Group work: Revision of 2015 work plans by national teams

Process: Asamoah to ensure guidance on the planning process and template to use. The feedback will have been made on the day before and the teams need to work on this. To help with this, TG/ELB will help scribe (document on flipchart) and where needed facilitate each group. We may also have someone from the team check on the other team? And TG/ELB will brief the teams properly on how to prepare the report. The report will consist of:

      1. Full soft copy notes on Word (on the draft plan)... by secretary...
      2. Report as additional set of colour cards to put on the mini share fair boards (to illustrate what would be the results to show at the end of 2015 / early 2016 based on the plans made for this year)... Focus on new things that are coming up...
      3. Mind-map showing 'quick wins', 'tried and true', 'wild and crazy', 'integrated and instrumental'.

* The report itself will last 10' for each country teams, leading the other team through a 'gallery tour' of the results of the planning (showing the mindmap, the updated share fair boards etc.) * OR perhaps rework on this part teaming up review teams from Ghana/Mali...
